Larry Moberg
An educator, hockey coach, and founder helping people grow in confidence and take meaningful action — on the ice, in the classroom, and in everyday life.

A life of teaching, competing, and building
Allan Cup champion (1999)
Won Canada's national senior amateur championship with the Stony Plain Eagles in 1999. The standard of preparation and composure under pressure required at that level still shapes how I coach and build today.
AJHL assistant coach & scout
Seven seasons as an AJHL assistant coach and goaltending coach — six with the Drayton Valley Thunder (2003–2008, then 2023–2024) and one with the Whitecourt Wolverines — and currently scouting for the Thunder to identify and develop emerging talent.
20 years teaching
Taught high school Math, Science, and Physical Education for 15 years and middle school for five, alongside running a junior- and senior-high hockey academy for seven years. Teaching proved that confidence is earned through practice.
Founder across health & sport
Founded ventures in fitness, goalie training, and education — turning a practical philosophy of human growth into programs that serve athletes, students, and active adults directly.

Being cut wasn't the end of my story
At eighteen, I was cut by the Olds Grizzlys. I still believed I could play Junior A hockey, and I wanted to earn a university scholarship — so I decided to keep pursuing that goal.
I played Junior B in Carstairs, then moved to the Fort St. John Huskies at nineteen. At twenty, Olds traded for me to become their number one goaltender, and that season we won an AJHL championship. After that season, I earned a scholarship to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where I played four seasons and graduated with a degree in exercise science.
One setback doesn't define your ability or settle your future. You can keep learning, find another path, and prepare for your next opportunity. That's the spirit behind Build. Believe. Become. — and the work I do today.
Three principles I keep coming back to
Take action
Progress starts with doing. A small, deliberate step beats waiting for the perfect plan — and it gives you something real to learn from.
Build confidence through practice
Confidence isn't a feeling you wait for; it's evidence you accumulate. Purposeful reps, honest feedback, and preparation are what let a goaltender trust the next shot.
Stay consistent
Motivation comes and goes; consistency is what carries you past it. The work you do on the ordinary days — when no one is watching — is the work that shows.
Three pathways to help people grow
Health & Fitness
Helping people build strength, energy, and sustainable habits — fitness as a foundation for a better life.
Hockey & Goaltending
Training and digital resources for hockey players and goaltenders, focused on purposeful preparation and on-ice confidence.
Education & Personal Growth
- Better Life Academy
An approach to learning that helps young people see potential in themselves and take ownership of their future.
A few things I've been thinking about
What coaching goalies taught me about confidence
Confidence isn't bravado or a feeling you wait for. It's built through purposeful reps, honest feedback, and preparation that train your instincts.
Why consistency matters when motivation disappears
Motivation comes and goes with circumstances. Long-term progress comes from showing up consistently on ordinary days and trusting the process.
Helping young people see potential in themselves
The most impactful work in teaching isn't constant correction — it's pointing out the moment a student accomplishes something they didn't know they could.
“Build. Believe. Become.”
Build something real. Believe in it enough to keep going. Over time, you become someone you didn't expect — through the work itself.
I welcome conversations about coaching and athlete development, fitness, education, or building something of your own.
